KU student charged in weekend rape

August 29, 2006

An 18-year-old Kansas University student from Overland Park has been charged with raping a 19-year-old acquaintance during the weekend in an on-campus residence hall.

The woman told KU Police she was raped between 1:30 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. Sunday in a room in McCollum Hall.

Police arrested the man later that morning. On Monday, he was formally charged with rape and made a first appearance in Douglas County District Court. As of Monday evening, he was being held in jail with bond set at $15,000.

Police would not release details of how the incident happened but said alcohol was a factor.

Thats no way to start off your brilliant college experience. So he fails a real life test miserably.I hope he can learn from this. He's getting an education that no university can provide.Touchy/Feely 101.

First of all, if alcohol was involved just how wasted was she? Who says she didn't consent and then just doesn't remember it. Who's place were they at? His? Hers? Doesn't really matter. She probably realized what she did and felt guilty about it and then decided she regreted it and figured this was a way out of it. Haven't you been taught anything about being alone with boys after drinking? Why are you drinking anyways? Neither of you are old enough to consume/ purchase the boose. If nothing else let this be a lesson to all uneducated idiots out there. Better think twice about drinking and picking up on chicks.
