August 29, 2006

Kansas University's volleyball team will entertain

Missouri-Kansas City in the Jayhawks' home opener tonight.

Match time is 7 p.m. at Horejsi Center.

KU (2-1) is 24-1 against UMKC and has won the last 13 meetings with the 'Roos, who opened the season with losses in three matches at the Hampton Inn Downtown Classic last weekend.

The Jayhawks, 7-0 in home openers dating to the 1999 season, went 2-1 over the weekend at the Academy Sports/Crimson Tide Invitational in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

UMKC will be without two starters today - senior Angela Melka and junior Mandy Tipton - due to injury.

Kansas will travel to Philadelphia this weekend for the Temple Classic, then play host to the Jayhawk Classic next week.
