A regulation prohibiting construction of new homes unless there is 250 feet of frontage along a public road right-of-way was extended for a year Monday by the Douglas County Commission.
The purpose of the regulation is to prevent development on irregularly shaped residential lots with minimal depth along public roads.
Currently, the Commission is working with the Lawrence-Douglas County Planning Commission on permanent frontage regulations. Frontage refers to the portion of private property that touches adjacent public roadways.
