Roger Hill Volunteer Center seeks an AmeriCorps member for service during the 2006-2007 program year. The member will assist the center with ongoing programs including volunteer recruitment and outreach, youth volunteerism, disaster volunteer preparation and communitywide days of service. The program provides members with a living stipend of $10,900 for the program year, medical and dental benefits and a $4,725 education stipend upon completion of 1,700 hours of service. Immediate volunteer needs

¢ Lawrence Meals on Wheels program needs several volunteer drivers to assist with meal delivery. Volunteers deliver lunch to homebound community members who are elderly and/or disabled. Driver positions are available each day of the week. Route delivery takes approximately 45 minutes. For more information call Kim Culliss at 979-1440.

¢ Volunteers are needed for an annual rummage sale Thursday through Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1245 N.H. Proceeds will benefit the Strategic Education Center and the church. Volunteers will assist with setup and cleanup. Setup times will be Wednesday and Thursday. Cleanup will take place Saturday after 3 p.m. Interested volunteers and donors can contact Rose Foster, director of the Strategic Education Center, at 331-3236.

¢ The Visions for Tomorrow class needs volunteers to assist with children’s programming. The children’s group may include children with a variety of special needs, including ADD/ADHD, autism, Tourette syndrome and depressive, eating or anxiety disorders. Volunteers with interest or experience working with children with special needs and students in related areas of study are welcome. Volunteers must be willing to assist from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for a series of eight Thursday sessions this fall. ¢ Big Brothers Big Sisters of Douglas County is looking for volunteers who want to make a difference in the life of a child. Volunteers spend from 30 minutes to four hours once a week with a child, depending on the program in which they are enrolled. This opportunity is available to individuals, couples and families. Volunteers need to be at least 16 years old, pass background checks, go through a screening interview and be willing to commit to the program for a minimum of one year.
