The Smallest Light

By Susan Waldo Simmons

What comfort brings the smallest light,

When Night its velvet cloak has spread,

And shrouds of clouds hide stars from sight

To fill the hearts of men with dread.

That light can lift the heart to song,

And help men with their fears to cope,

For even though things may go wrong,

A ray of light inspires great hope!
