Old Home Town – 100 years agod

From the Lawrence Daily World for Aug. 25, 1906: “The Old Home Week Committee here has ruled out carnivals at future events due to the many problems they have created. Some think such entertainment is far too ‘common’ for good citizens. : At a Sunday school picnic here, two little fellows reportedly dragged a third boy to an old stock well and were doing their best to throw him in the water to drown. Another boy came to the rescue. The miscreants said they were mad at the third boy for telling that they were fishing during the Sunday school lesson. The names are being withheld due to punishment in the homes.”
