Old home town – 40 years ago today

Eudora public school pupils were getting ready to begin classes Aug. 29 while the first full day of Lawrence schools was not to be until Sept. 6.

Local county fair officials said they were uncertain if there would be a rodeo segment the following year after sub-par competition during the 1966 two-night stand.

Keith Winter, a Texan, took over as the new Lawrence Chamber of Commerce executive secretary, succeeding Glenn West who had departed for another job of the same nature.
