90s continue today

Chance for showers Saturday morning

Clear skies will help the sun slowly bake Lawrence today, says Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

“We’ll stay warm to hot again this afternoon,” Schack said. “Temperatures will be climbing into the mid 90s . . . Get used to it. The 90s will be here for several days.”

Today’s high will be 93 degrees, with southerly winds at 5 to 15 mph, Schack said. The average high temperature for this date is 86 degrees. The record high was 105 degrees, set in 2000.

At 7:15 a.m., Lawrence Municipal Airport’s temperature was 64 degrees, the humidity was 84 percent and winds were calm.

The average low temperature for this date is 67 degrees. The record low was 49 degrees, set in 1925.

Overnight, the low will drop to 69 degrees by early Thursday morning, with the temperature climbing to 95 degrees by Thursday afternoon, with mostly sunny skies, she said.

Friday’s morning low will be 72 degrees. Friday’s afternoon high will climb to 96 degrees, Schack said.

A cold front arrives Saturday morning, bringing a chance for rain and bringing cooler weather for the weekend, she said.
