Law enforcement report

¢ Lawrence Police are investigating whether a 61-year-old man viewed child pornography at his workplace in Lawrence. The information-technology manager at the man’s workplace reported to police Friday afternoon that it appeared the man was viewing illegal material. LPD spokeswoman Kim Murphree would not identify the business, citing an ongoing investigation, but said the man’s job does not involve working with children.

¢ A 22-year-old woman told Lawrence Police that around 3 p.m. Thursday, a man came into the business where she works, asked to look at some merchandise, and then touched her inappropriately while she was assisting him. She described him as a heavyset white male between 55 and 60, with a gray T-shirt, cargo shorts and glasses. LPD spokeswoman Murphree would not give the exact location of the crime but said it was a retail business in central Lawrence.

¢ A 37-year-old Lawrence man told Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies an acquaintance threatened him with a drill Aug. 11 during a dispute about the removal of a fence in the 2000 section of North 1300 Road. Deputies sent a report to the District Attorney’s office for review.

¢ A gunshot fired by an unknown suspect caused $1,000 damage to a vehicle between Aug. 15 and Aug. 16 in the 200 block of north Michigan Street.

¢ Police arrested 20-year-olds Bobbi A. Harvey of Odessa, Texas, and Taylor A. Grey of Citrus Heights, Calif., for soliciting without a license after being called by a citizen Friday evening to the 4000 block of West 24th Street.

¢ St. James African Methodist Church, 647 Maple St., was the scene of burglary and vandalism between Aug. 1 and Sunday. Five windows were broken, causing $500 in damage, and a door to the church was damaged.

¢ Lawrence Police are investigating the theft of $2,563.46 in bank deposits taken between Aug. 8 and 9 from Burger King, 1301 W. 23rd St. A 30-year-old man is the suspect, but as of Monday morning police hadn’t contacted him.

Burglaries and thefts reported

¢ 1200 block of Kentucky Street: A 23-year-old St. Louis man reported his 1995 Honda Prelude stolen between midnight and 9:30 a.m. Friday.

¢ 200 block of West 8th Street: Extension cords and power tools, valued at $1,318 total, are stolen between 5:05 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday from DFC Company of Lawrence.

¢ 700 block of New York Street: A 23-year-old-man reported his 1998 Isuzu Rodeo stolen between 1:30 a.m. and 3 a.m. Saturday.

¢2200 block of Harper Street: Someone broke a glass at Harper Corner Liquor around 5:20 a.m. Sunday and stole five bottles of E & J Brandy.

¢ 1300 section of East 1900 Road: A golf cart, electric air compressor and gas can valued at $960 total are stolen between Aug. 10 and Aug. 14 from Twin Oaks Golf Course.

¢ 600 section of East 1600 Road: Someone broke into a home between Aug. 6 and Aug. 14 and stole the keys to a 1987 Ford F-150 pickup that was later found abandoned in Franklin County.

¢ 800 section of North 300 Road: a John Deere riding mower and gold bracelet, valued at $3,003 total, were stolen from a home between Aug. 10 and Aug. 11

¢ 1700 section of north 700 Road: A $1,800 generator is among the items stolen between Aug. 2 and Aug. 3 from a lawn business.
