¢Lily Boyce, Lawrence, earned a full tuition, room and board scholarship to attend The Marie Walsh Sharpe Art Foundation 2006 Summer Seminar Program June 18-July 1 in Colorado Springs, Colo. It is designed as an art institute offering an intensive visual art studio program for gifted high school juniors. Boyce’s selection was based on slides and CDs of her original work and a written recommendation from her art teacher.

Olivia Catloth, Baldwin, has been selected to participate in the 2007 Miss Kansas USA/Teen USA Pageant. The pageant will be Dec. 15-17 in Lawrence. She will be competing as Miss Baldwin City Teen in swimsuit, evening gown and interview competitions.

Olivia is involved in student council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Lettermen’s Club and Winners Circle at Baldwin High School. She also participates in volleyball, basketball and track. She is a member of the youth group at Worden United Methodist Church.

Olivia is the daughter of Rob Catloth and Debby Johnson.

¢Jenny and Jason Hohman, Lawrence, announce the birth of their daughter, Jaylie Ruth Hohman, born Aug. 11, 2006, at Olathe Medical Center.

Courtney and Jason Werth, Lawrence, announce the birth of their daughter, Grace Addison Werth, born Aug. 1, 2006, at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center in Topeka.

Laurice Young Kramer Bate, Topeka, will celebrate her 90th birthday with an open house reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 27 at Lawrence Free Methodist Church, 3001 Lawrence Ave. Hosts will be her daughters, Karen Sutton, Berryton, and Judy Gallant, Houston, her five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Laurice was born Aug. 22, 1916, in Melvern, to Vinson and Agnes (Andre) Young. She was the fourth of nine children. She married Bruce E. Kramer on May 1, 1939. He died Jan. 13, 1977. She retired from Hallmark Cards in Topeka in 1981. She married Richard Bate on Feb. 2, 1991. He died Dec. 1, 2004.

Laurice resides at McCrite Plaza Retirement Apartments in Topeka.

Allison Edwards, Lawrence, was named to the president’s list at Drake University. Edwards received the honor by earning a grade-point average of 4.0 for the 2006 spring semester.
