Topeka ? A longtime educator from Utah has been named as the Kansas director of special education, Education Commissioner Bob Corkins said Thursday.

Colleen Riley, a 23-year teacher and administrator, was most recently principal of Copper Canyon Elementary School in Sandy, Utah.

She has a master’s degree in education from the University of Arizona and has worked in special education in Arizona, Missouri, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Utah.
