If local and governmental leaders had their way, Douglas County would stay right where it was when it came to congressional redistricting. But a move to the nearby 2nd Congressional District seemed more likely when the new boundaries were drawn, said State Rep. John Solbach, D-Lawrence. Officials here cited economic and social ties with Johnson County as the main reason for Douglas County’s staying put. But the population figures seemed likely to force changes that would take Lawrence from its 3rd District status.
