The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reported it had acquired 630 tracts of property at a cost of just more than $9.9 million through the end of July for the Perry Lake project 16 miles northwest of Lawrence. That amounted to about 70 percent of the land needed. The remaining 210 tracts required were expected to cost $4.5 million.
