Air Force Cadet Matthew Harvey has graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. The graduate received a Bachelor of Science degree and was commissioned as a second lieutenant. The officer is scheduled to attend undergraduate pilot training at Vance Air Force Base in Enid, Okla. Harvey, a 2001 Lawrence High School graduate, received a degree in mechanical engineering. He is the son of Jerry and Stephanie Harvey, Lawrence.

Army Pvt. Paul McCleery has graduated from the Light-Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic Advanced Individual Training course at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Aberdeen, Md. The course is designed to train soldiers to perform unit maintenance and recovery operations on gasoline and diesel fueled light-wheeled vehicles. McCleery, a 2005 Eudora High School graduate, is the son of Mike and Darlene McCleery, Eudora.

Air National Guard Airman 1st Class David Schonberg has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations. Schonberg, a 1999 Eudora High School graduate, is the son of Phil and Kay Schonberg Eudora. He earned a bachelor’s degree in 2004 from Wichita State University.

Army Pvt. David Kennedy has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.
Kennedy, a 2001 De Soto High School graduate, is the son of Joe and Patricia Duncan, De Soto.
