— In a case that shocked authorities in a small western Michigan city, a man stands accused of striking a deal for sex not only with the 14-year-old daughter of his girlfriend - who police say offered the girl to him while she recovered from surgery - but with his own 12-year-old daughter.

"I've never seen anything like this before. Parents aren't supposed to do something like this," Calvin Mahan, a detective with the Muskegon Heights police, said Friday.

Because the Detroit Free Press does not publish the names of the alleged victims of sex crimes, the man and woman are not being identified to protect the identities of the two children.

According to authorities, the 37-year-old man's girlfriend persuaded her daughter to sign a contract obligating the then-14-year-old girl to have sex with him in exchange for clothing and body piercings. Police said the woman was worried the man would dump her while she was recovering from tummy tuck surgery.

Authorities said the mother, daughter and the man all signed the contract. The man and the girl allegedly had sex about 20 times from June 6 to July 15, during which time she turned 15 years old.

"Basically, mom was pimping out her daughter," Mahan said.

On Friday, Mahan said authorities also learned that the man had given his own daughter - who had been staying with him after living with her biological mother - packs of cigarettes for sex. According to the Muskegon County Prosecutor's Office, the man had sex with his daughter from sometime in November to July 15.

In the case involving his daughter, the man is charged with six counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a child under age 13; in the other case, he is charged with six counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a child 13 to 15 years old.

If convicted on the charges involving his daughter, the man could be sentenced to life in prison; for those involving his girlfriend's daughter, he could serve up to 15 years in prison.

Meanwhile, the girl's mother has been charged with three counts of aiding and abetting third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a child 13 to 15 years old. She was freed on a $25,000 bond after being arraigned Tuesday. She could face 15 years in prison if convicted.

Her children, including a son and another daughter, were removed from her home.

It's kind of late in the game to teach the girls' that trading sex for smokes is just not the right thing to do.

The so called mother should spend the rest of her life in prison, first beaten badly! She has to have a screw loose!

I just can't get over how "parents" can abuse and permit abuse of their children! Whatever happened to values, and morality? I think preditors such as this excuse for a man should be put to death and the women who gave birth to abused children should get the same treatment if they contribute to that abuse in the way that this woman did. As for him and others like him, somebody should be licensed to chop it off and pickle it before he is slaughtered. The sad thing is that those girls most likely don't know that what happened to them isn't right. They've probably been brought up to think such behavior is normal. I just pray that whoever gets legal custody of those girls has enough love and strength to get them going in the right direction and really parent's them right.

I will never be able to comprehend how a mother can do something like that to her own daughter.

Eh, I do my own research.

In Illinois for example http://www.law.siu.edu/selfhelp/newsletter/42.htm

It is a subtle difference, but probably important if you are on the "adult" side of the contract. I don't think the adult can unilateraly seek to void it.

A defenseless and despicable act on the part of the mother. The mother should receive a harsher sentence than the guy (not defending his behavior for the looney tune morons prepared to conclude that). Your own mother should be the most trusted person in your life and her betrayal of trust warrants a stiff penalty. For all intents and purposes, the guy should have been treated as a stranger.

(and why is it called aiding and abetting? They mean the same thing!) Sweetpea, I don't believe you are completely accurate in regards to contracts (which is such a minor, almost tangential point to this case). A minor can pull out of a contract however, if the minor enters into a contract with an adult, the adult can't pull out and say "the contract isn't binding" because it was made with a minor. It is up to the minor to withdraw from the contract, otherwise it is binding. Any law students here that can verify the veracity of my statement?

How in the world coujld a child make that sort of decision. Aren'tt he adult supposed to be helping her self esteem not degrading er and treating her like a whore. Gros and both of them should be locked up for life. No contract is legally binding if the child is under age of consent which is 18.
