¢ Phenix U-14 Third: Lawrence Phenix U-14 girls fastpitch finished third in the Triple Crown World Series in Park City Utah, winning eight games and losing two. Team members are Maddy Wilson, Kacie Welborn, Lexi Smith, Madison Oller, Anna Mages, Kylee Mader, Calleigh Durr, Haley Finucane and Laiken Rockhold. Coaches are Marv Oller and Bill Finucane.

¢ Patterson Champ: Jay Patterson carded a 67 for the low net score in Sunday’s Jayhawk Golf Club tournament at Alvamar. Steve Crawford was runner-up with a 69. Ted Johnson, Ed Phlegar and Stephen Morgan all posted 70s. Ed Scholtes had a 71 while Sean Claycamp and Kent Hodgson each notched a 72. Chad Roesler shot the low gross with a 75.

¢ CJHS Meeting: Central Junior High will conduct a parent-athlete meeting for prospective football players at 7 p.m. today at the school. For information, call Scott Petry at 841-7581.

¢ Select Second: Lawrence Select, a basketball team composed of Lawrence High juniors and seniors, finished second in its age group at the Sunflower State Games in Topeka. Team members are Baba Diallo, Mitch Gill, Pat Hannah, Kevin Logan, Jace McNabb, John Schneider, Jared Vinoverski and Nick Wagner. Coaches are John Moos and Andy Hudnall.

¢ Boeck Titlist: Dee Boeck of Lawrence finished first in her age group (women 50-plus) in the Quivira Mile Race Sunday in Overland Park. Tonganoxie’s Wally Brawner was second in his age category (men 60 plus). D.J. Hilding of Lawrence was fourth in the men 20-34 division.

¢ Quantrill Fun Run: Quantrill’s Raid Fun Run for History 10K will be Aug. 19. The run will start in South Park and go through seven sites of significance during Quantrill’s 1863 attack on Lawrence. For information, call the sponsoring Watkins Museum at 841-4109.
