Tigers complete sweep, 1-0

? Wilfredo Ledezma struck out five in 52â3 innings as the replacement starter for Justin Verlander, and the Detroit Tigers took advantage of an error by C.C. Sabathia to beat the Cleveland Indians, 1-0, Sunday and complete a three-game sweep.

Making his first major-league start since June 4, 2005, Ledezma (2-1) allowed six hits and two walks. Jason Grilli, Jamie Walker, Fernando Rodney and Todd Jones finished, with Jones getting three outs for his 31st save in 34 chances.

Verlander (14-4), who has a tired arm, is scheduled to start Friday against the White Sox. Craig Monroe hit a two-out RBI single in the fifth off Sabathia (8-8).

Yankees 6, Orioles 1

Baltimore – Derek Jeter hit the first of four solo homers against Rodrigo Lopez (8-12). Jason Giambi hit his 32nd home run and finished 3-for-3.

Devil Rays 7, Red Sox 6

St. Petersburg, Fla. – Greg Norton hit a solo homer in the 10th off Julian Tavarez (2-4) as Tampa Bay rallied from a 5-1 deficit to overcome David Ortiz’s major-league-high 40th homer.

Blue Jays 7, White Sox 3

Toronto – A.J. Burnett (3-5) allowed three runs and eight hits in six innings, helping Toronto stop a seven-game losing streak, its longest in four years.

Angels 9, Rangers 1

Anaheim, Calif.- Garret Anderson and Vladimir Guerrero hit three-run homers for the Angels. Joe Saunders (3-0) allowed three singles over seven innings.

Athletics 7, Mariners 6

Seattle – Frank Thomas hit a three-run homer and drove in four runs as Oakland beat the Mariners for the 12th straight time and completed its first three-game sweep in Seattle since Sept. 24-26, 1993.
