St. Petersburg, Fla. ? The Tampa Bay Devil Rays optioned struggling right-hander Edwin Jackson to Triple-A Durham and activated reliever Dan Miceli from the 60-day disabled list Sunday.

Jackson allowed one run, one hit and three walks over two-thirds of an inning in the Devil Rays’ 7-6, 10-inning win over Boston. He has no decisions and a 6.75 ERA in 17 games.

“We want to get him some closer-role situations,” Tampa Bay manager Joe Maddon said. “We were not able to get him into the meaningful situations.”
