Elle and Bobby Patton won at North-South, placing first in A, B and C. Cathy Blumenfeld and Lois Clark won second in A, B and C. Carol Ball and Chris Lane won third in A. Phyllis Brownlee and Madelyn Jenks won third in B.

Paul Heitzman and Dave Piro won first in A at East-West, followed by Shari Krentzel and Deb Bettinger who won second in A and first in B and C. Eldon Herd and Shirlie Vaughn won third in A. Marilyn Martin and Clarice Broz won second in B and C.

The Friday Afternoon Bridge Club played a stratified Mitchell movement at 11 and a half tables on July 28. The game was directed by Don Brennaman. The event was a qualifier for the North American Open Pairs event.

At North-South, Clyde Romer and Kent McCullough won first in A and B, followed by Julia Brooks and Chris Lane who won second in both strata. Betty Collier and Patt Radford won third in A and B. Don Daugherty and Harry Talley won first in C. Phyllis Brownlee and Lois Clark placed second in C.

American Contract Bridge League Unit 234 played a special two-session game last Saturday at the Women’s Club in Topeka. Sixteen tables played a stratified Mitchell movement directed by Lois Jones and Jeff Nash. Virginia Seaver and Paul Heitzman won, followed by Clyde Romer and Jeane Landry. Gary and Mary Joyce placed third. Emily Foster and Jerry Sloan tied for fourth place with Virginia Hamilton and Vernon Gregg. Chuck and Yvonne Hedges won fifth place.

At East-West, Pete Petillo and Donna Johnson won first in A, and Janice and Kelley Stephens won second in A and first in B and C. Sally Taylor and Shirlie Vaughn won second in B and third in A.
