Kansas University athletic director Lew Perkins received a 4 1â2 percent raise for fiscal year 2006-07 and now has a salary of $458,651, according to information provided by the KU athletic department through an open-records request.

Perkins’ income is paid partly by Kansas Athletics, Inc., and partly by the state. His salary will jump $19,751 from FY 2005-06. He also receives additional income – at least $100,000 – from a multimedia contract and has other perks such as two automobiles, country club memberships and men’s basketball season tickets.

KU will have 10 athletic-department administrators earning six-figure salaries this school year, the same as a year ago. An 11th, new compliance director Theresa Becker, is just under six figures at $97,185.

Associate athletic director Paul Buskirk, who heads academic support services, received the largest raise of all the associate ADs for 2006-07. He’s slated to make $130,000 this year – nearly a 25 percent raise from his salary of $104,500 last year.

Senior associate AD Larry Keating and associate AD for major gifts John Hadl are the two highest-paid administrators behind Perkins, though neither received a substantial raise this year. Keating will make $191,235, while Hadl will bring in $191,104. Both were on the receiving end of significant raises within the last two years.

Fourth-highest is Jim Marchiony, associate AD for external affairs, who will make $171,448. Senior women’s administrator Kelly Mehrtens will make $171,000.

Also on the list:

¢ Associate AD for internal affairs Sean Lester will make $163,000.

¢ Ben Kirtland, associate AD for development, will move up to $156,750.

¢ Associate AD for administration Brandon Macneill will earn $120,175.

¢ Terry Hines, who moved from compliance into the Williams Fund but is still listed as an associate AD, will bring in $103,500.
