¢ Quantrill Fun Run: Early registration deadline is Tuesday for the Quantrill’s Raid Fun Run for History 10K on Aug. 19. The run will start in South Park and go through seven sites of significance during Quantrill’s 1863 attack on Lawrence. For information, call the sponsoring Watkins Museum at 841-4109.

¢ Phenix Fyler Fifth: Phenix Fyler U-16 finished fifth in the American Fastpitch Assn. B National tourney in Broken Arrow, Okla. Team members are Molly Fyler, Sam Hays, Brittaney Krug, Emily Lamb, Sydney Seratte, Hannah Somers, Dequesne Sprow, Kristen Bowman, Michelle Bowman, Mindy Highberger, Jordan Kruse, Chelsea Carnagie, Jordan Van Houtan and Haley Carpenter. Coaches are Randy Fyler, Steve Seratte and Lloyd Van Houtan.

¢ Baldwin Golf: Registration will be from 7-10 a.m. Sunday for the Baldwin Open golf tournament at the Baldwin Golf Course, a nine-hole, sand-greens layout. Participants will be placed in five flights with prizes in each flight. For information, call Marvin Jardon at (785) 594-3169.

¢ Lewis, Johnson Low: Frank Lewis and Greg Johnson both carded 65s to head the field in Sunday’s Jayhawk Golf Club net tournament at Alvamar. Bob Losasso fired a 68 for third place. Ray Mendoza, Bob Kocour and Tom Dennis all came in with 69s. Ted Johnson and Mike McNelly each recorded 70. At 71 were Mike Hertling, Sean Claycamp and Kent Hodgson. Mike Beaton and Jeff Miller each had a 72. The low gross score was a one-under 71 by Conrad Roberts.

¢ Bombers Standout: Driskell Johnson of Lawrence played on the Capitol City Bombers U-11 baseball team that finished second in the Super Series Nationals in St. Louis, Mo. Johnson made the all-tourney team.
