Shark week sinks teeth into history

Host Mike deGruy dons an outfit straight out of “Star Trek” to search for the “Perfect Shark” (8 p.m., Discovery). Mike’s aquarium time machine takes us back to the era of the long-extinct megalodon, which grew to 60 feet in length, making it the largest shark ever known.

¢ A perfume-counter clerk falls for a neurotic American comedy writer in the British comedy “Love Soup” (9 p.m., BBC America), an earnest attempt to rekindle the talky, bittersweet romantic comedy in the Woody Allen vein. And like many such comedies of the past three decades, it is far more self-absorbed than funny.

¢ “Queer Eye” (9 p.m., Bravo) embarks on a makeover that transcends clothes, hair and makeup. Born Amelia and raised in rural Vermont in a religious household, she began calling herself Miles in college and has taken hormones to pass as a man. The gang offers advice to help Miles feel comfortable in a transformed identity.
