Jean Milstead is getting back into the banking business – with another bank.

Milstead is the new director of community relations for Emprise Bank in Lawrence, a job that will put her experience, relationships and connections to work for 10 to 12 hours a week.

While she continues spending time volunteering for community efforts, she now works to attract customers to the bank.

“They made me an offer I couldn’t refuse,” Milstead said. “It’s absolutely the greatest job.”

Milstead retired in 2000 as senior vice president for Douglas County Bank, the company she’d joined 34 years earlier as a bookkeeper.

Emprise will conduct a public reception for Milstead from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 17 at Emprise’s newest Lawrence location, 1121 Wakarusa Drive.
