MCPHERSON ? Free State High’s girls soccer squad couldn’t forge ahead and tied Garden City, 1-1, Saturday. Free State scored in the second half when Lucca Wang assisted Logan Keasling. Coach Jason Pendleton cited Wang, Keasling, Clare Robinson, Leah Williams, Jenni Brooks and goalkeeper Bry Aiken for solid play.

The Firebirds (2-8-1) will travel Monday to Junction City.

Also, Pendleton will hold a meeting at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday at room 248 at FSHS for eighth-grade boys interested in trying out for soccer this fall as ninth graders.
