Haskell Indian Nations University softball coach Gary Tanner won't have to go far Saturday to watch his son compete in the regional Special Olympics powerlifting competition.
It's being held at the Haskell gymnasium, with Opening Ceremonies scheduled for 9 a.m. The event would run until about 11:30, and the squat lifting would be the final division, Tanner said.
Tanner noted his son, Brady, 26, is two-time defending state champion in Special Olympics powerlifting.
"We'll probably start him out at 500 in the squat," he said of his son. "In the last round, he'll probably squat 600 pounds."
Haskell football fans are quite familiar with the younger Tanner, who has been the ball boy for the past 20 years.
