Four Kansas University alumni were named as the 1981 recipients of the Distinguished Service Citation, the highest honor bestowed by the school and its alumni association. They were Dr. Max Allen, Overland Park; Dr. Edward Hashinger, distinguished professor of gerontology at KU; John McLendon Jr., noted basketball coach from Downers Grove, Ill. and Phil Phillips, Bartlesville, Okla.
