Old home town – 100 years ago today

From the Lawrence Weekly World for April 21, 1906: “The Rev. Lewis Grout of New England went to Africa as a Presbyterian missionary 60 years ago and remained there for 14 years. He returned with many relics and artifacts and these are due to make their way to Lawrence for viewing due to friends of the reverend here. There are such things as heads the size of plums and they should be interesting to see. : L.O. McIntire arrived from Los Angeles this morning, coming direct from San Francisco where he was the night before the earthquake disaster. He was fortunate to escape.”
