Temperatures climbing into the 70s
Another sunny, spring day is in store for Lawrence, says Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.
“If you liked yesterday, we’ll have a very similar pattern today,” Schack said.
Temperatures are headed up to 74 degrees this afternoon, with mostly sunny skies and winds out of the west at 8 to 12 mph, she said. The average high temperature for this date is 69 degrees. The record high was 91 degrees, set in 1987.
This morning’s temperatures were on the cool side.
“Grab the jacket on the way out. You may even want to grab a coat,” Schack said.
At 7 a.m., Lawrence’s temperature was 39 degrees, the humidity was 82 percent and winds were from the northwest at 6 mph, making the windchill 35 degrees.
The average low temperature for this date is 47 degrees. The record low was 29 degrees, set in 1953.
Tonight’s low will dip down to 40 degrees by early Friday morning, Schack said. Friday’s high will climb to 75 degrees, with winds out of the west at 5 to 10 mph, and mostly sunny skies, she said.
Saturday will bring slightly warmer conditions, Schack said.
Saturday’s morning low temperature will start out at 45 degrees and climb to a high of 79 degrees, with mostly sunny skies, she said. Winds will be from the west at 5 to 15 mph, she said.
