Volunteers needed for fundraiser for March of Dimes

The 38th Annual March of Dimes WalkAmerica fundraising event will take place on May 5 at Clinton State Park. Volunteers are needed to assist with parking, registration, along the route, and with the event picnic. The March of Dimes mission is the prevention of premature births, birth defects and infant mortality. Volunteer opportunities are also available year-round in the local chapter office. Immediate volunteer needs

¢ Lawrence Memorial Hospital seeks energetic volunteers with an interest in great customer service. Volunteers are asked to make a three- to six-month commitment for three to four hours once a week to provide excellent service to patients, visitors, fellow volunteers and staff members. Currently, volunteers are needed for the LMH South Mammogram Area Waiting Room. Volunteer shifts are available from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday through Friday. ¢ The Ballard Center is looking for a volunteer substitute driver to help with pickup and distribution of food through the commodities program serving low-income community members. The substitute driver will assist when the regular driver is unavailable. The volunteer must have a valid driver’s license and carry insurance, and have the ability to lift and carry boxes to load and unload the delivery truck. Training will be provided. ¢ Volunteers are needed to assist with children’s programming for the Visions for Tomorrow class. The children’s group may include children with a variety of special needs addressed in the class, including ADD/ADHD, PDD/autism, Tourette’s syndrome, conduct disorder, bipolar, depressive and eating disorders, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia and schizoaffective. Volunteers must be willing to assist from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. each Thursday from June 8 to July 27.
