Two new cleaning businesses are counting on letting nature do much of their work.

Aveena Natural Cleaning Services opened earlier this month in Lawrence, and Hangers Cleaners, a dry-cleaning franchise, has set up drop-off locations in Hy-Vee stores in Lawrence.

Aveena, which provides house cleaning services, pledges to use only products with natural and environmentally friendly ingredients: baking soda, vinegar, olive oil, soap, club soda and tea tree oil, said owner Lynate Pettengill, who runs the place out of her home.

Hangers uses liquid carbon dioxide to clean garments without danger of fading or shrinking them, said Joe Runyon, president and owner of Hangars’ Kansas City region. Runyon received his master of business administration degree at Kansas University.
