Transcript of missing teen’s 911 call

Transcript of the 911 call Tuesday morning to the police here from Kelsey Stelting, a 16-year-old who was missing for more than 15 hours:

DISPATCHER: 911, state your emergency.

STELTING: I’ve been kidnapped. I have been taken from in front of my house. I am – I’m in the back of a van. I was told – he put a gun to my head and he told me to run or he would shoot me and my family.

DISPATCHER: What’s your name, honey?

STELTING: My name’s Kelsey Stelting …

DISPATCHER: Tell me that again.

STELTING: Kelsey Stelting, S-t-e-l-t-i-n-g.

DISPATCHER: Do you know who this guy is?

STELTING: I was – I was in front of (inaudible) – I was in front of my house. I did not – I didn’t see him. He came up behind me. I (inaudible) I’m sorry …

DISPATCHER: OK; it’s OK. OK, um, what – what’s your address, babe?

STELTING: (No answer.)

DISPATCHER: Kelsey?

STELTING: (Whispering, inaudible).

DISPATCHER: Kelsey, what’s your address?

STELTING: (Whispering) Hold on; hold on; hold on.

DISPATCHER: OK.

STELTING: (Whispering, inaudible) Pine. (Inaudible.)

DISPATCHER: I can’t hear you, honey.

STELTING: My address is P15 East Pine Street.

DISPATCHER: 215 East Pine? Do you have any idea where you are?

STELTING: He told me – he told me to run or he would shoot me and my family – he told me to run until he – until I saw his white van, and I was supposed to stop, and I stopped. He pulled in by the Woods Lumber sign right across from Woods.

DISPATCHER. Uh huh, so you’re in a white van …

STELTING: I’m in a white van. I don’t know which way I’m going. I can’t see out. I don’t know where I’m going.

DISPATCHER: OK, OK; stay on the phone – so the last place you know of you were was at Woods Lumber?

STELTING: Yes, that – well, he’s – he’s driving now. I don’t know.

DISPATCHER: OK, OK; stay on the phone for me, honey, OK?

STELTING: (Clearing throat).

DISPATCHER: (Whispering, inaudible).
