Game Summary

1st Half

14U Kaw Valley Force Blue started the scoring early in the first half of Saturday’s game off the foot of forward John Kuefler. After shaking his defender, Kuefler took the ball in from wide left, putting KVF up 1-0 in the opening minutes of the half. For awhile the KVF defense repelled the Hays SC Tornadoes attacks with much thanks to sweeper Russ Armstead. The Tornadoes simply had too many chances though, as forward Brian Street finally connected with the net to tie the game going into halftime.

2nd Half

The Tornadoes came out of the break attacking and after three missed attempts, Hays forward Tyler Rathke connected on a shot. Rattled by the Tornadoes’ intensity and what some players contended was poor officiating, KVF Blue struggled to find their rhythm on offense and continued to have trouble on defense. Devin Schmidt put the finishing touches on the 4-1 Hays SC victory. “Next game we need to make better, cleaner passes and just have a good time,” Kuefler said.
