Breezy and warm today

Break out the sunglasses – sunny skies and warm temperatures are in Lawrence’s forecast today, says Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

“Hold on to your hat. The winds will pick up for the afternoon,” Schack said.

Today’s high will climb to 79 degrees, with south winds 15 to 25 mph, she said.

The average high temperature for this date is 66 degrees. The record high was 95 degrees, set in 1930.

At 1 p.m., Lawrence’s temperature was 74 degrees, the humidity was 37 percent and winds were from the south at 20 mph, gusting to 26 mph.

Today’s low temperature was 46 degrees. The average low temperature for this date is 44 degrees. The record low was 24 degrees, set in 2003.

Tuesday’s morning low temperature will start out at 54 degrees and climb to 78 degrees by Tuesday afternoon. There’s a possibility of a late evening storm, Schack said.

Wednesday’s morning low will be 55 degrees, climbing to a high of 79 degrees by late Wednesday afternoon, with mostly sunny skies, she said.
