Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for April 9, 1906: “A local restaurant man who felt his wife had betrayed him took poison, walked across the street to his room, fell and died immediately. His wife had run away with another man about a month ago and he was angered and distraught. He had carried strychnine before and when he took it this morning said, ‘This is the day.’ : We cannot stress enough the need to clean up the town for spring, particularly the alley filled with trash and garbage accumulations from winter. Weather is good enough to get things done and we hope many take part.”
