Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for April 7, 1906: “Oklahoma is having what it considers great floods but just wait until the loitering Kaw here goes on another rampage and shows all the others how it is done. We had a bitter winter; may we have a mild, floodless spring. : Topeka is now trying to raise funds for a new YMCA building. Our fine new building and facilities seem to be a pattern for many who are envious and trying to measure up to our high standards. : More and more political leaders are declaring they see a moral awakening in Kansas and such a development is wanted by almost all. : We sincerely hope that the good roads enthusiasm at the courthouse yesterday, during a discussion of improvement actions, turns into needed improvement. There are many trouble spots this spring.”
