Houston ? Taylor Buchholz pitched seven scoreless innings Saturday night, then found out he made the Houston Astros’ opening-day roster.

Buchholz allowed five hits and struck out six with no walks as the Astros wrapped up exhibition play with a 6-4 win over the Kansas City Royals.

Meanwhile, Zack Greinke, the troubled right-hander who left spring training for what K.C. said were personal reasons, was placed on the 60-day DL Saturday as the Royals made their final moves before Monday’s season opener.

Filling out their major-league roster, the Royals kept two right-handed pitchers who were nonroster invitees to camp – Steve Stemle and Luke Hudson. Stemle, 28, was 0-0 with a 5.60 earned-run average for the Royals last year. Hudson, 27, was signed in March after being released by Cincinnati. In five spring appearances for the Royals, he gave up one run in six innings.

Saturday’s move to the 60-day DL means Greinke, 22, could not rejoin the Royals at least until about mid-June. He returned home Feb. 25 to Orlando, Fla. General manager Allard Baird said Thursday that he was “progressing nicely” but that he had no idea when Greinke might return.

“When he does get back, it will be like he has to start with spring training all over again,” Baird said.

In other moves, the Royals put right-handed pitchers Mike MacDougal and Mark Redman on the 15-day DL, optioned right-handers Runelvys Hernandez and Joel Peralta to Triple-A Omaha and designated right-hander Steve Andrade for assignment. Also, outfielder Chip Ambres cleared waivers and was sent to Omaha, and infielder Donnie Murphy was transferred from Omaha to Double-A Wichita.
