CLAREMORE, OKLA. ? Senior Scott Heitshusen slammed two home runs in Free State High’s 10-1 victory over Glendale High of Springfield, Mo., on Saturday at the Four State Festival.

Heitshusen was 2-for-2 with four RBIs in the five-inning, run-rule game. Kyle Cross had a bases-loaded triple, Travis Ice went 2-for-3, and Nick Ayre added a triple for the Firebirds (5-0).

The Firebirds, who used three pitchers, have allowed just one earned run in five games.

“Our pitching and defense have continued to be outstanding,” FSHS coach Mike Hill said. “It was a good weekend for us. Our offense had been struggling, and we broke out in a big way.”

FSHS, which beat Springfield Kickapoo, 6-0, on Friday, will travel Tuesday to Olathe Northwest.
