Baldwin Boy Scouts concluded their mid-winter camping season with a Court of Honor on Feb. 27 at Baldwin High School. During the ceremony, Scouts and Scouters received 190 camping beads.

Troop 65 members also received 12 service stars, four 12-month camping awards, seven rank advancements, 20 merit badges and other special awards. Troop members earned 27 patches for participation in Scouting for Food, 12 for Scout Sunday, 16 for the Kansas Cosmosphere and 21 for the Halstead Trappers’ Rendezvous.

Among the Scouts who received awards were Callan Anderson, Trey Anderson, Brandon Baltzell, Thomas Bollig, Alex Coffey, Keenan Coffey, David Cook, Justin Cook, Matt Davis, Patrick Deitz, Mitchell Elsea, Cole Greg, Josh Hoffman, Jake Hogsett, Ryan Hundley, Brian Jones, Logan Keener, Andrew Morgan, Kyle Patrick, Sam Richards, Gregory Schiffelbein, Cameron Scruggs, Kirsten Shuck, James Simmons, Will Simmons, Colby Soden and Evan Wilson.

Adult leaders who received recognition were Joe Bollig, Jerry Brown, Rick Dietz, Donna Gratts, Gretchen Hundley, Betty Lawrence, Robert Lawrenz, Martin Pressgrove, John Richards, John Scruggs, Mark Shuck, David Simmons, Tom Wilson and Virginia Wilson.

Scouts elected or appointed to troop leadership positions on March 6 were Trey Anderson, librarian; Callan Anderson, patrol leader, Squirrels; Brandon Baltzell, quartermaster; Thomas Bollig, assistant patrol leader, Badgers; Alex Coffey, instructor, assistant patrol leader, Lancers; Keenan Coffey, assistant patrol leader, Penguins; Matt Davis, chaplain’s aide; Patrick Dietz, historian; Josh Hoffman, patrol leader, Penguins; Jake Hogsett, instructor; Ryan Hundley, assistant patrol leader, Squirrels; Brian Jones, patrol leader, Thundering Buffalos; Logan Keener, senior patrol leader; Andrew Morgan, chaplain’s aide; Cameron Scruggs, patrol leader, Lancers; Kirsten Shuck, instructor; James Simmons, troop guide; Colby Soden, scribe; Evan Wilson, assistant senior patrol leader.

Boy Scout Troop 52, chartered to First United Methodist Church, had a Court of Honor on March 28.

Dominick Reiske, senior patrol leader, served as the master of ceremonies. Chip Anderson gave a Friends of Scouting presentation, which garnered more than $1,000 in pledges.

The following boys received rank advancement: Mason McCurdy, 2nd Bronze Palm for his Eagle; Kelvin Minter, Scout; Henry Reiske, Bronze Palm and recognized for his Eagle award; and Peter Tuttle, Bronze Palm for his Eagle.

The following Scouts received merit badges: Mason McCurdy, Kelvin Minter, Henry Reiske, Peter Tuttle, Jack Berkowitz, Jaron Brynds, Evan Cloar, Cyril Cook, Andrew Denny, Brendan Golledge, Cameron Hershisher, Stefan Kuczera, David Long, Eric Long, Brandon Mailand, Kelvin Minter, Doug Rawlings, Dominick Reiske, Michael Smith and Wesley Tedlock.

Jaron Brynds received his Paul Bunyan Award and Recruiter Strip. Kelvin Minter earned his Firem’n Chip and Totin’ Chip. Dominick Reiske and Michael Smith received their 100 Nights Camper Award and were recognized for earning their Catholic Scout Religious medal Ad Altari Dei. Tim Barta was recognized for becoming a brave in the tribe of Mic-O-Say.

Scoutmaster Rowley Tedlock was recognized for his 2 1/2 years of service to the troop.
