Suspicious cooler poses no threat
There were some tense moments for emergency crews Friday morning after the Kansas Highway Patrol found a suspicious object east of Lawrence.
A state trooper found an unusual-looking cooler, with a rag hanging from it, near County Road 442 and Noria Road.
Emergency crews with Wakarusa Township and Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical were called to the scene to investigate possible hazardous materials around 9:45 a.m.
In the end, it was a false alarm. The cooler turned out to be empty.
