Jayhawks rout UC Irvine

Kansas University’s soccer squad had an easy time with UC Irvine on Friday, rolling to a 4-0 rout at Jayhawk Soccer Complex.

Freshmen Missy Geha and Jessica Bush, senior Caroline Smith and sophomore Emily Strinden each scored a goal for the No. 24-ranked Jayhawks (4-2-1), who held the Anteaters to just seven shots. Kim Karfonta added two assists, and Smith had one for KU, which outshot UC Irvine, 19-7.

“We had four different players score, which was good,” KU coach Mark Francis said.

KU will travel Sunday to West Lafayette, Ind., for a match against Purdue.
