Break out your sunglasses — and possibly a sweater. Clear, sunny skies and cool temperatures are on tap for today, says Tim Reith, 6News meteorologist.

Lawrence and areas to the north started out with foggy conditions this morning, which led the National Weather Service to issue a fog advisory this morning. But by 10 a.m., that advisory was lifted. And sunny skies are expected for the rest of the day, Reith said.

This morning’s low temperature in Lawrence was 46 degrees. “Thats . . . almost . . . cold,” Reith said, laughing.

However, the temperature will warm up through the day to a high of 66 by noon and to 77 degrees by late afternoon, he said. Winds will be from the southeast, 5 to 10 mph.

At 10:30 a.m., the temperature had climbed to 59 degrees, the humidity was 87 percent and winds were calm.

“We should see plenty of sunshine, maybe just a few passing clouds in the afternoon,” Reith said. “If you can get off work early today, this afternoon is going to be a good day to enjoy.”

Overnight, the temperature will drop to 55 degrees by early Saturday morning, he said. Saturday’s high will be 83 degrees, with clouds increasing Saturday afternoon.

A storm system will come across the state Saturday, bringing the possibility for some isolated showers Saturday afternoon into early Sunday morning, he said. The chances for rain on Saturday start about 4 p.m. or 5 p.m., he said.

“It looks like the best chance for rain will come Saturday night into Sunday,” he said. Winds will be from the south at 10 to 15 mph.

Sunday’s morning low will be 65, with the high reaching 83 on Sunday afternoon. There’s also a chance for rain on Sunday morning and again on Sunday afternoon, he said.
