Rain ending, skies to clear in afternoon

Cool and foggy conditions expected Friday morning

Nearly an inch of rain fell overnight in Lawrence, bringing damp, cool conditions for those heading outdoors this morning, said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

“I’d recommend at least grabbing a jacket,” Schack said. “The temperatures are only in the 50s.”

At 10:30 a.m., temperatures at Lawrence Municipal Airport were 60 degrees, with east-northeast winds at 15 mph.

By 10 a.m., the airport had recorded 0.91 of an inch of rain at Lawrence Municipal Airport. Radar indicated Eudora and DeSoto had about 2 inches of rain overnight, she said. Lawrence was getting a misty rainfall about 10:40 a.m.

Clouds will last through the early afternoon before breaking up, she said. Lawrence will see some sun today, she said. Today’s high will be 72 degrees, with east-northeast winds at 5 to 10 mph, she said.

Overnight, the temperature will drop off to a chilly 48 degrees, with clear skies and some fog developing in the early morning hours, she said.

“Make sure you grab a blanket for the overnight and have that jacket ready again for tomorrow morning,” Schack said.
