Hurricanes offense overpowers Gorillas
Keith Loneker Jr. showed his pedigree as he made plays all over the field Sunday in his Hurricanes B-team 41-6 victory over the Gorillas at Youth Sports Inc. fields.
But the fullback/linebacker/defensive and son of former Jayhawk Keith Loneke, wasn’t the only Hurricane blowing all over the field.
Running back Stan Skwarlo could be the fastest football player in all of Lawrence. With one second left in the first half, Skwarlo scampered 25 yards into the end zone for a 21-6 lead.
“We ran that play last season but our fifth graders didn’t know it,” said Hurricanes coach Loneker Sr.
It didn’t take long after the break before the Hurricanes picked up where they left off.

Saxon Seaberd kicks off for the Hurricanes during the second quarter of their game versus the Gorillas on Sunday at Youth Sports Inc.
Quarterback Kyle McFarlin called his own number and broke free for a 35-yard touchdown. Loneker got in on the excitement when he took a pitch on the two-point conversion, but instead of running it reared back and launched a successful flea-flicker pass.
Loneker Jr.’s day finished when he shut the door on the Gorillas with a 10-yard touchdown run late in the fourth.
