Bulldogs’ back too much for Cardinals

The ground-pounding combination of Jesse LaMay and Asher Hannon was too much for the Cardinals defense to handle as the Bulldogs ran over the Cardinals 27-0 in the sixth grade match-up Sunday at Youth Sports Inc. fields.

LaMay started the game off by slicing and dicing his way through the Cardinals’ defensive line. He picked up large chunks of yardage every time he touched the ball in the first quarter.

Finally, LaMay’s hard work paid off with 3:12 remaining in the first quarter when he took a handoff near the goal-line for an easy touchdown.

Cardinals quarterback Derek Webb tried his best to keep his team in the game, but despite drives kept alive Webb couldn’t get his team any legitimate scoring chances.

The Cardinals’ lack of production allowed the Bulldogs to pull away and rack up the score.

LaMay scored another touchdown with one minute remaining in the first half to give the Bulldogs a 19-0 lead.

Cardinal Markis Hill blocks Bulldog Coltin Thomas on a punt return Sunday at Youth Sports Inc. The Bulldogs defeated the Cardinals 27-0 in a sixth-grade game.

The Bulldogs second-half rushing mirrored the first, but the Bulldogs were more than content to eat up clock.

Hannon scored the last touchdown of the game with two minutes left in the quarter, and the duo each got enough attempts in the fourth that allowed the clock to wind out.
