Second-degree murder charges filed in shooting

Prosecutors on Monday filed an attempted second-degree murder charge against a Lawrence woman suspected of shooting a female acquaintance last week.

Nicole Ann Livingston, 19, is charged with shooting an 18-year-old acquaintance Thursday night in the 600 block of Eldridge Street. She was in the Douglas County Jail Monday with bond set at $100,000.

A second suspect in the case, a 29-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of aiding a felon and being a criminal in possession of a firearm. He made a brief appearance in court Monday, but prosecutors said their paperwork was not complete, and he is expected to appear in court again today.

He remained in jail Monday with bond set at $20,000.

The victim in the case, who police said was an 18-year-old acquaintance of Livingston’s, was discharged from the hospital Saturday.
