Angels’ Colon logs 19th victory

? Bartolo Colon knew he was going to make this start.

The Los Angeles Angels’ ace was questionable for Saturday’s game against the White Sox because of tightness in his lower back. After watching the Angels win in 12 innings Friday night, he didn’t want to let his teammates down.

Colon won his eighth straight decision to become the American League’s first 19-game winner, and Garret Anderson backed him with a three-run homer, leading the Angels over Chicago, 10-5, Saturday.

“I knew yesterday around BP time that I was going to be able to throw today,” Colon said.

Colon (19-6) allowed two runs and four hits in six innings, throwing 111 pitches. He is 8-0 in 10 starts since losing to Minnesota on July 16.
