HOW THEY SCORED
First Quarter
2:45 – Nathan Hickey 27 run. Lions set up on Eagles’ 38 after Darren Tidd’s five-yard punt. On third play of drive, Hickey burst off right side, shed a pair of would-be tacklers and race into end zone. Abby Vestal kick blocked. (Lawrence 6, Olathe North 0).
Second Quarter
9:51 – Scott Penny 55 pass from Brian Heere. On first play after Brendon Halpin recovered Josh Gore’s fumble at the Lions’ 45, Heere hit Penny a wide-open Penny at the O-North 20 and Penny lugged the ball into corner of end zone. Brandon Lassiter run failed. (Lawrence 12, Olathe North 0).
9:23 – Zach Phillips 6 pass from Darren Tidd. Eagles started on own 36 after kickoff and, on first down, Gore blasted a 50-yard rush to the 14. Minutes later, after a personal foul call against Lions, Tidd threw TD to wide-open Phillips. Eric Hronek kick. (Lawrence 12, Olathe North 7).
6:25 – Nolan Kellerman 22 pass from Heere. Lions started on O-North 35 after Lassiter’s 43-yard kickoff return and scored five plays later when Heere hit Kellerman in left flat and the Lions’ running back busted three or four tackle attempts all the way to end zone. Heere run failed. (Lawrence 18, Olathe North 7).
Fourth Quarter
11:07 – Jason Gore 2 run. Eagles began yards from goal after Lions failed to convert a fourth and two at their own 35. O-North needed nine plays, plus an offside penalty against Lions, to score. Run failed after bad snap. (Lawrence 18, Olathe North 13).
