Chance for morning showers
On the way out this morning, watch out for foggy conditions — and grab an umbrella.
“We’ll have some fog this morning and maybe a few isolated thundershowers,” said Tim Reith, 6News meteorologist. “After the rain passes through, we should have a pretty nice day.”
At 8 a.m., the temperature in Lawrence was 71 degrees, the humidity level was 90 percent and winds were calm. Conditions were somewhat foggy in low-lying areas, Reith said.
“It’s going to be kind of muggy because we have a lot of moisture present,” he said.
However, by early afternoon, the threat of thunderstorms in the area should be over, with skies becoming partly cloudy for the rest of the day, he said.
“By the end of the day, we should see plenty of sunshine,” Reith said. The high temperature this afternoon will be 90 degrees, he said.
Overnight, the temperature will fall to a low of 66 degrees by early Friday morning. Friday’s high will climb to 91 degrees, with partly cloudy skies.
Saturday’s morning low will be 68 degrees, with Saturday’s afternoon high climbing to 92, under partly cloudy skies.
There’s no threat of wet weather for the Kansas University football game at 6 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Stadium, Reith said.
“It’ll be a little warm, but the weather is going to cooperate,” Reith said.
