Boy reports stranger offered him candy
A 10-year-old boy told police a stranger approached him as he rode his bicycle in North Lawrence and asked him if he wanted candy.
The incident happened about 8:20 p.m. last Friday at Third and Elm streets. The boy said the man was driving a blue pickup truck, wearing a dark shirt and a red baseball cap, and had a mustache.
Sgt. Dan Ward said the boy did what he should have done in the situation: refused the man’s offer and immediately reported it to his parents and police.
