Tax collections climb throughout state
Topeka ? State tax collections continued to climb past estimates.
For the month of August, the state pulled in nearly $10 million more than expected, which is 2.9 percent.
For the new fiscal year, which started in July, the two-month total is $19 million, or 2.7 percent, more than what was estimated when the Legislature finalized the state budget.
The higher-than-expected income for August was fueled mainly by increased sales tax receipts, which signals healthy buying patterns, officials said.
